After the tragedy that is Typhoon Sendong, the entire city of Cagayan de Oro has been very busy. The people who used to camp out in evacuation centers commenced in relocating to the Tent City in Canito-an, houses of friends and families and also lots that have been given/donated/allocated by private sectors in Cagayan de Oro.

It is still not too late to help out Cagayan de Oro. There might have been donations flying in and out but the lack of manpower/volunteer to steer the relief goods to designated places result to an entire month’s supply of goods wasted. Anything can happen as more and more people get depressed and therapy is needed to help them psychologically recover from the trauma. Prayers are also welcome.

The perfect starter sofa

Hi, folks! I’m a resident contributor in this site and would love to hear your thoughts on the real estate industry especially in our lovely city of Cagayan de Oro. Meanwhile, I would just like to share my adventures on furniture shopping in my city after we moved and settled in to our new apartment.

Having had so many apartments, leases and contracts in a span of six years, eight to be exact, I realized that my previous furnitures do not match all of the interiors on all apartments. My lacquered side table does not look good together with pastel walls anymore and a beige sofa does not blend well with a chocolate brown dining set. I do not remember ever giving away furniture but I clearly remember not using some of them anymore. Should you go with safe colors such as whites and blacks or use green, pink, blue and hope for the best?

Some landlords are not really keen on you touching up their walls, wallpaper and tiling so it is either you change your furniture or you cross your fingers and hope that they wouldn’t mind if you painted the walls tangerine. In our recent move (by recent is just a week ago), our roommates settled on a plush velvet chocolate brown sofa bed. Ah, sofas! They make or break the entirety of your apartment, yeah? When I saw that exquisite piece of chocolate plushness, I know that we can’t go wrong! A dining set with lacquered dark wood was brought it and a floor length mirror came next. I was in furniture heaven! Shopping for rugs, plants and a (flat screen) curtains is in order. Can’t wait to post about that soonest.

How is your furniture shopping lately? I hope you do not have a dilemma like I always do.

Toodles!

Kristine
